Booking records and FOIA
For a particular GCDC booking record or booking photograph, submit the GCSO online FOIA form or mail a written request to FOIA Request, Georgetown County Sheriff's Office, P.O. Box 1292, Georgetown, SC 29442. State the person’s name, the approximate booking or arrest date, and the specific record sought. The request process is subject to the South Carolina Freedom of Information Act, S.C. Code Title 30, Chapter 4, including its exemptions and response rules.
GCSO posts $20 per hour for staff time, $0.35 per page, and $5 per disc for photo, audio, or video materials supplied on CD or DVD, plus postage. A 25 percent estimate deposit may be required. These are published retrieval charges, not a fixed charge to view a mugshot.

Use the Georgetown Public Index to locate an available court case, then contact the Clerk for court copies, a sealed-file question, or a disposition issue. The Clerk is the court route. A GCDC release is not itself a court outcome.
State and federal custody
The SCDC Inmate Search is only for current South Carolina state-prison custody. It is not a GCDC booking search. A formal state-corrections records question belongs with SCDC, while a federal-custody or immigration-detention question belongs with the applicable BOP Inmate Locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator.

These routes keep a recent county booking, a court case, and a state-prison record distinct.
- For a current county booking, release entry, or official booking-photo availability, use GCSO Booking and Release.
- For a record or photo copy not available in the listing, use the GCSO FOIA route.
- For the case result after booking, search the Georgetown Public Index and then use the Clerk if needed.
- For a person currently sentenced to state prison, use SCDC’s inmate search rather than the county roster.
- For a Georgetown County warrant concern, use the GCSO Warrants Unit route through 843-546-5102 or the court, and seek legal counsel when appropriate.
- For emergencies or crimes in progress, call 911.
